HemisFair Park
Former Site of World's Fair Proves to be Popular Attraction

By , About.com Guide

Danno Wise
Originally built to hold the 1968 World’s Fair, San Antonio’s HemisFair Park has been one of the state’s most popular attractions since its inception.

Located near downtown San Antonio, just a short walk from the Riverwalk, the 15-acre HemisFair Park has undergone extensive renovation and additions over the years. Today, it features, among other things, exhibits remaining from the ’68 World’s Fair, a labrinyth of cascading waterfalls, a children’s playground and, the landmark of the San Antonio skyline, the 750-foot tall Tower of the Americas.

An attraction in and of itself, the Tower offers an observation deck, café, restaurant and a 4D theatre ride. Admission to the observation deck is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and $3 for children. Admission to the Skies Over Texas theatre ride is $6 for adults and $5.50 for seniors and children. HemisFair Park is open to the public at no cost.
