Small Towns in the Big Bend Region

Way out in West Texas, tiny towns with wide spaces in between are the norm. Find out what these Big Bend region bergs have to offer.
Hotels in the Big Bend National Park Area
There are several hotels in the small towns surrounding the Big Bend National Park. However, locating those hotels has always been a problem - until now.
Alpine
Billing itself as the "Hub of the Big Bend," Alpine is home to Sul Ross University, the Big Bend Museum and several other interesting and unique attractions.
Del Rio
The Texas border town of Del Rio is located on the shores of Lake Amistad and the Rio Grande, offering birders, boaters and fishermen plenty of options. However, Del Rio is also home to a number of top notch museums as well as the oldest winery in Texas, the Val Verde Winery.
Fort Stockton
Located way out in West Texas, on the edge of the Chihuahuan Desert, Fort Stockton is a town rich in "Old West" history.
Marathon
Long a favorite of Winter Texans, the Big Bend town of Marathon offers a mild climate, plenty of outdoor recreational activities, close proximity to Mexico, the McDonald Observatory, Big Bend State Park and much more.
Marfa
Home to the mysterious "Marfa Lights," the tiny West Texas town of Marfa plays host to thousands of visitors annually, who come to watch this unexplained nightly light show. Although the lights have been viewed practically every night since 1883, no one has yet been able to explain why they occur.
Midland
The "Oil and Gas Capital of Texas," Midland is much more than just an oil patch. In addition to being home to President George W. Bush, Midland also houses several impressive museums, attractions and a minor-league baseball team.
Odessa
Best known as the town that inspired the book and movie, "Friday Night Lights," Odessa has come a long way from its oil town inception. This West Texas town now is home to a full compliment of attractions, performing arts and events.
Presidio
Presidio means garrison or fort in Spanish, which is what the town of Presidio originally was in colonial times. Amazingly, tiny Presidio hasn't grown - or changed - that much over the years.
