Midland Overview:

The "Oil and Gas Capital of Texas," Midland is much more than just an oil patch. In addition to being home to President George W. Bush, Midland also houses several impressive museums, attractions and a minor-league baseball team.

Midland History:

Originally named Midway because it was the point where the railroad tracks from the Texas Pacific and Southern Pacific railroads met, Midland was formed in 1880. The named was changed because it was later discovered there was another town of the same name. Midland remained a prosperous railroad town until the 1920s when the discovery of oil changed the direction of the town forever. Although it is known primarily for its oil production, Midland also boasts an impressive lists of current and/or former residents, including both George Bush and George W Bush, Tommy Lee Jones, Woody Harrelson, Tom Craddick and others.

Midland Attractions:
