Corpus And The Coastal Bend Offer Year Around Vacation Opportunities

By , About.com Guide

Corpus Christi and the surrounding small towns which make up the Texas Coastal Bend region offer visitors exciting vacation opportunities throughout the year. Regardless of the season, there is plenty to do in the Coastal Bend.

Corpus, of course, is the shining star of the Coastal Bend, with plenty of lodging, dining and entertainment options twelve months a year. Beautiful stretches of beach can be found on both the mainland and island sides. Mustang Island State Park and Padre Island National Seashore are the top spots for sunning, shelling, fishing, swimming, surfing and a myriad of other beach activities.

Sports fans are treated to year around professional sports with the Coastal Bend Aviators and Corpus Christi Hooks playing baseball throughout the summer and the Ice Rays hockey through the fall and winter.

Corpus is also full of premier attractions. The Texas State Aquarium and USS Lexington are at the top of everyone’s list, but places such as the South Texas Institute of Art, Corpus Christi Museum of Science and Art, and a variety of other museums are certainly worth visiting.

And, while you’re in the Coastal Bend, don’t forget to visit some of the small towns in the area, such as Aransas Pass, Port Aransas, and Rockport/Fulton. Each of these towns features a variety of landmarks and attractions, as well as activities such as birding, fishing, shelling, and a variety of water sports. Taken as a whole, the Coastal Bend region has more than enough fun to fill an entire vacation – regardless of the season.
