By Danno Wise, About.com

RioFest
Held each April in Harlingen, RioFest celebrates art and culture from both sides of the Rio Grande River. With art, food and music from both the United States and Mexico, RioFest is the perfect showcase for the cultural blending that comprises Texas’ Rio Grande Valley.

Celebrating its 26th Anniversary in 2008, RioFest boasts a juried art show, live music, great food, and a variety of other fun family activities. This year’s musical lineup features artists from Radio Disney.

RioFest also is host to a number of displays and activities designed to introduce children and their families to the natural world. ‘One the Wild Side’ events and presentations at RioFest include The Great American Duck Race, Tropical Illusions, Reptile Adventures and the Texas Camel Corps.

Additionally, RioFest is set to host a BMX Bike Show, a 3-Wide Racing competition, and the American Veterans Traveling Tribute – Vietnam Wall Memorial replica. This year’s RioFest runs from April 18 through April 20. Festival hours are 5 – 11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. Saturday, and 12 noon – 8 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5. Children under 12 are free.
