With numerous communities throughout the state boasting deep German roots, Texas is home to an amazing array of Oktoberfest celebrations each year. One of the best of these annual Oktoberfests is the celebration held each year in Addison. The Addison Oktoberfest is so good, in fact, that it has been named to USA Today’s list of Top 10 Oktoberfests in North America. (see more below)

Addison Oktoberfest Visitor Information:

The Addison Oktoberfest is held at Addison Circle Park, 4970 Addison Circle Drive. The event runs Thursday through Sunday each year. Typically, hours are: Thursday, 6 p.m. – 11 p.m.; Friday, 6 p.m. – midnight; Saturday, noon – midnight; Sunday, noon – 5 p.m. Admission for the Addison Oktoberfest is: Thursday, free; Friday, $10; Saturday, $5 (noon – 5 p.m.)/$10 (5 p.m. – midnight); Sunday, $5.

There are numerous hotels in Addison. Many of these hotels offer special rates during the Addison Oktoberfest. Some even offer free admission tickets. These are but a few of the hotels to be found throughout Addison.

About the Addison Oktoberfest, continued Located just north of Dallas, Addison is perfectly situated to draw a crowd. And, each September the Addison Oktoberfest draws over 60,000 people during the event’s four-day run. Wait, September? That’s right, the Addison Oktoberfest is held in September. Why September? According to the Addison Oktoberfest site (link below), the Addison Oktoberfest is scheduled in mid-September “to coincide with the opening of the world-renown Oktoberfest celebration in Munich, which is a 16-day festival that ends the first weekend in October.” Unlike the Munich event, the Addison Oktoberfest begins and ends in September. But, despite being held two weeks prior to its namesake month, the Addison Oktoberfest is full of fall flavor, as well as German tradition, food and music. In fact, polka music, German food, and Spaten Bier are at the heart of the Addison Oktoberfest.

Among the things that set the Addison Oktoberfest apart is the festival’s many unique event. During the course of the four-day celebration, visitors can participate in the Oktoberfest Run for Children, Bier Barrel Rolling, Bier Barrel Rolling, Dachshund Parade and Races, Oktoberfest Yodeling Contest, and a German Spelling Bee. There is also an arts & crafts show, carnival, and “family fun zone.” Additionally, there is live entertainment nightly during the Addison Oktoberfest.

About Addison Virtually surrounded by big city Dallas, the Town of Addison maintains its unique charm and appeal. Home to just over 18,000 people, Addison boasts high rise commercial business towers, as well as cozy single family homes. Addison is also home to dozens of hotels and nearly 200 restaurants, as well as a number of unique shops, an upscale mall and more. However, Addison is best known for its many unique festivals. In fact, there is a festival being held in Addison on 29 of the year’s 52 weekends. One of those festivals, of course, is the Addison Oktoberfest.
