Westfest Overview:
Every year West, Texas - located just north of Waco - hosts its "Westfest," which is one of the largest Czech Polka fests in the state. The event is held over the first weekend in September and features polka bands, dancing, Miss Westfest contest, parade, baking contests, fun run, horseshoes, arts & crafts and more.
About Westfest:
Held annually since 1976, Westfest is one of the largest Czechoslovakian heritage festivals in Texas, drawing more than 20,000 visitors annually. Westfest offers live polka music, a parade, Miss Westfest pagent, baking contest, 'Just for Kids' activity area, food booths, tractor pulls, Kolache fun run, and a Sunday polka mass. There is also a carnival-style midway and Taroky contest.
Westfest Information:
Westfest is held at West Fair & Rodeo Grounds in West. Admission to the Friday night preview party is $12 for adults, children under 12 are free. Saturday and Sunday admission is: Adults - $8; Military - $4; Seniors - $4; Children 6 to 12 years - $4; Children under 6 - free. Parking is $3 per vehicle.
