Texas Folklife Festival Overview:
Sponsored by the Institute of Texan Cultures, San Antonio's Texas Folklife Festival is an annual celebration of the diverse cultures that combine to make Texas unique. The festival features live music, costume, arts & crafts, and more.
About the Texas Folklife Festival :
The first Texas Folklife Festival took place in September 1972 and was modeled after the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, DC. As with the Smithsonian event, the Texas Folklife Festival was developed in order to showcase various cultures. The proceeds from each Folklife Festival are distributed among the participating cultures in order to help keep customs and traditions alive.
Where the Texas Folklife Festival is Held:
The Texas Folklife Festival is held in downtown San Antonio. Events and activities take place at the Institute for Texan Cultures and the surrounding grounds. The 22-acre area is located at the corner of Durango and Bowie.
