Spending New Year's in Houston
Texas' Largest City Offers Plenty of Options for Ringing in 2009

By , About.com Guide

Houston is the nation’s fourth-largest city and the largest in the Lone Star State. As one might expect, a city that size has plenty to offer over New Year’s weekend.

New Year’s Eve is the date of the annual Texas Bowl. This new college football bowl game is held at Reliant Stadium, near downtown. This year’s game features the Missouri Tigers and Navy Midshipmen.

Of course, there is plenty to do for those not interested in watching the game. Houston is chocked full of attractions, as well as world-class restaurants and hotels. Some of the events which are being planned especially for the 2009 New Year include a New Year’s Eve dance and ball at the Sambuca Restaurant and a “New Year’s noon” celebration at the Children’s Museum of Houston, which entails a countdown and “ball dropping” beginning at 11:45 a.m. Dec. 31.

Of course, there will plenty of parties in Houston’s famed nightclubs.

Any way you slice it, you can find the perfect way to ring in your New Year in Houston.
