Patriotic Events to be Held Across the Lone Star State

If you happen to be heading to Texas over Fourth of July weekend, you'll have no shortage of Independence Day activities to choose from. In fact, since the Fourth falls on a Friday this year, it will be a true 'Fourth of July Weekend.' Here is a small sample of what's on tap in Texas for the Fourth of July.

Friday, July 3

Granbury's July 4 Celebration begins Thursday and continues through Sunday. The event includes a car show, tractor pull, ranch rodeo, children's games, arts & crafts, parade and fireworks display.

Colorado City's July 4 Fun Run and Fireworks at the park.

Saturday, July 4

The Austin Symphony Orchestra will be performing their annual Fourth of July Fireworks & Symphony at Auditorium Shores.

Buda's Red, White & Buda event showcases a variety of children's activities, craft booths, washer pitching contest, tug-of-war, parade, fireworks and entertainment.

Houston's celebration, the Chevy Freedom Over Texas Fourth of July Celebration at Eleanor Tinsley Park features a fireworks display and live music from Clay Walker. The fireworks display is being billed as the 'largest land-based fireworks show in the nation.'

Luckenbach will be hosting their annual July 4th Luckenbach Family Picnic, which includes entertainment, games, food and more.

South Padre Island, the "Fireworks Capital of Texas," will have a Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza over the Laguna Madre bay starting at 9:15 pm.

In San Antonio, visitors and residents will be treated to a free fireworks display and celebration at Woodlawn Lake Park.

And, in Dallas, Fair Park Fourth is a free event featuring food, games, live music and fireworks in Fair Park.
