2006 Kids Cup Fishing Tournament
Young Anglers Compete for Trip to World Championships

By , About.com Guide

Saturday, April 22, the South Padre Island Convention and Visitors Bureau will be hosting their first annual Kids Cup Fishing Tournament. Sponsored by and loosely modeled after the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup series, the Kids Cup is a “pro style” event designed for young anglers. The SPI Kids Cup will be the first such event in Texas.

Not only will each of these young anglers receive a “goody bag” full of all kinds of neat stuff from the long list of sponsors, the overall champion will receive an expense-paid trip for them and their parent or captain to the International Game Fish Association’s 2006 Junior Angler World Championship Tournament in Key West, Florida. Trophies and awards will also be presented for the top fish in each age category.

With the promise of good weather and good fishing, the Kids Cup should prove to be an enjoyable event for young anglers and their families, regardless of how they fare in the tournament. Entry fee for the tournament is only $100 per angler, but the field is limited, so it is necessary to register early.
