Set to be held at Pirates Landing Fishing Pier in Port Isabel, the LLMRC will award cash to the top finishers in each adult category - pro and amateur. Adult competitors will also be eligible for hourly cash prizes. Junior anglers will compete for assorted tackle as well as rod and reel combinations.
The top finisher in the pro division will win $2,000. All licensed fishing guides and anyone who has worked as a guide within the past two years must fish the pro division. Any angler fishing with a guide the day of the event may enter as a pro or amateur. Any other angler over the age of 18 who wishes to enter the pro division may do so. Pro division entry fee is $100.
The overall winner in the amateur division will receive $1,000. Both pro and amateur division participants are eligible for the $200 hourly prizes award to the largest redfish weighed during each hour of the competition.
Junior divion winners will receive All-Star rods and Pflueger reels, along with a complete tackle selection. The overall winners from the pro, adult amateur and junior divisions will also receive trophies. Anglers may fish anywhere in the Lower Laguna Madre from the Land Cut south to South Bay. Pro division anglers can only use artificial lures, while amateur anglers may use natural or artificial baits.
All fish must conform to Texas Parks & Wildlife legal limits in order to be eligible. No oversize redfish will be eligible.
All participants adult and junior will receive free admission to the fishing pier and 15 percent off all bait and tackle at the pier on the day of the event. There will also be a number of giveaways during the weigh-in.
