Texas Rose Festival
Annual Event Showcases "Rose Capital of the Nation"

By , About.com Guide

Texas Rose Festival
Started in 1933, the Texas Rose Festival has become part of the fabric of life in Tyler and the surrounding East Texas communities.

The annual Rose Parade helps kick off the event each year, but is just part of the fun. The festival also includes a Coronation Ball and the East Texas Symphony Orchestra’s “Concert in the Park.”

Visitors are also often awed by the sight of thousands upon thousands of roses arranged in a variety of manners and showcased during the Rose Show. An art show and tours of local rose fields and nurseries are also part of the festivities.

An additional attraction for those visiting the “Rose Capital of the Nation” is Tyler’s Rose Museum. Tyler is also home to the country’s largest “municipal rose garden,” which includes 40,000 rose bushes and nearly 500 varieties of roses.
