Aransas Pass Overview:
Featuring the Lighthouse Lakes Kayak Trail, dozens of world-class birding locations, and access to excellent saltwater fishing, Aransas Pass is a nature lover's dream. Unlike many other coastal communities across the United States, Aransas Pass has resisted the modernization of its coastline. So, rather than seeing high-rise condominiums, visitors to Aransas Pass are treated to spectacular bay views.
Aransas Pass History:
After a few false starts, the town of Aransas Pass became a permanent settlement along the Texas Coastal Bend in 1909. Aransas Pass was primarily a small boat port and fishing village until oil was discovered a short distance inland. Like a lot of Texas towns in the early 1900s, close proximity to an oil field resulted in a boom for Aransas Pass. However, over the second have of the 20th century, the growth leveled out. Today, Aransas Pass is a quaint bayside town, relying primarily on fishing and tourism.
