Bandera Overview:
Known as the "Cowboy Capital," Bandera prides itself on its cowboy heritage. Today, visitors to this quaint Hill Country community can expect a variety of shops and attractions, as well as festivals held throughout the year.
Bandera History:
Bandera can trace its history back to the mid-1800s when settlers begain to arrive on the banks of the Medina River. These early settlers used the area's numerous cypress trees to create roof shingles, which was Bandera's first industry. Later Bandera became a popular jumping off point for cattle drives, which led it to become the "Cowboy Capital."

Bandera Attractions:
Bandera is home to a handful of museums, including the Bandera Music History Project Hall of Fame Project, Frontier Times Museum, and Lone Star Motorcycle Museum. Bandera is also located conveniently close to Lost Maples State Park and Lake Medina. The Medina River is runs through Bandera and is a popular spot for a variety of watersports.
