Blanco History:
The settlement of Blanco began to take shape in the early 1850s when a US Army scouting party camped there for an extended period of time. Various settlers as well as additional troops moved in and out of the area over the next few years. Blanco County was officially formed in 1857. The town of Blanco is the county seat.

Blanco Attractions:
Blanco is part of the Hill Country Regional Christmas Lighting Tour, which is hugely popular among visitors each December. The town is also home to several historic buildings, such as the Old Blanco County Jail and Old Blanco County Courthouse. Blanco State Park, which is inside the town of Blanco, is a popular family vacation spot. The Blanco River, itself, is popular for fishing and a variety of watersports. Annual events such as the Lavendar Festival and the Blanco Classic Car Show are also popular among visitors.
