Believe or not, the 'Holiday Season' is once again upon us. And, what would the holidays be without parades? From now through December, Texas puts forth some of the country's biggest and best holiday parades.
Texas Fourth of July Celebrations - Celebrating July 4th in Texas
If you happen to be heading to Texas over Fourth of July weekend, you'll have no shortage of Independence Day activities to choose from. In fact, since the Fourth falls on a Friday this year, it will be a true 'Fourth of July Weekend.' Here is a small sample of what's on tap in Texas for the Fourth of July.
Labor Day Events in Texas

Dickens on the Strand

Why wait 'til December for a Christmas Parade when you can attend Chuy's Christmas Parade in Austin during November? This unique Christmas parade raises money for "Operation Blue," which provides toys to needy children in the Austin area.
Salado Fright Trail
Held at the Tablerock Amphitheater in Salado, the Fright Trail offers games, contests and spooky tales for children. Adults can experience some of the "horror classics" and everyone can expect the unexpected.
Cameron Park ZooBoo
Held at Cameron Park Zoo in Waco, ZooBoo offers a safe Halloween activity for kids of all ages. ZooBoo features candy, face painting, hay rides, games and more.
Gladys Porter Zoo Boo at the Zoo
Held each year at Brownsville's Gladys Porter Zoo, Boo at the Zoo includes over 60 carnival-style games, as well as treat station and a 5,000+ square-foot Haunted House - all set within the zoo's unique setting.
Taylor Halloween Spooktacular
Held in tiny Taylor, just outside Austin, Spooktacular features games for all ages, a costume contest, free candy, photos and more - a great and safe alternative to neighborhood trick-or-treating.
Sundance Square Parade of Lights
Held each year in downtown Fort Worth, the Sundance Square Parade of Lights features over 100 illuminated entries and climaxes with the lighting of the Fort Worth Holiday Tree.
Neiman-Marcus/Adolphus Children's Parade
A Dallas holiday tradition for over 20 years, the Neiman-Marcus/Adolphus Children’s Parade not only kicks off the holiday season in the Big D, it is a major fundraiser for the Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. You can get reserved seating, general admission tickets, or bring a lawn chair and sleeping bag and huddle up along the parade’s downtown route.
Cotton Bowl Parade
Held on New Year's Day, the Cotton Bowl Parade features bands and drill teams from across the United States, as well as floats and performers, all making their way through Downtown Dallas.
Whistle Stop Christmas
In Cleburne, the Whistle Stop Christmas Lights wow visitors on an annual basis. The main draw for this county-wide event is the 11 acres of Christmas lights covering Hulen Park which stay lit for the whole month of December.
Shamrock St. Patrick's Day Festival
What else would you expect to celebrate in a town named Shamrock? The annual Shamrock St. Patrick's Day Festival has grown into a two-day event featuring parades, music, motorcycle rally, beauty pageant, craft show, carnival and more.
Holiday Trail of Lights
Probably the most famous Texas light trail, Jefferson’s Holiday Trail of Lights features an enchanted forest, life-size gingerbread house, candlelight tour of homes and more – not to mention plenty of lights.
Texas Hill Country Regional Christmas Lighting Trail
The Texas Hill Country communities of Boerne, Burnet, Dripping Springs, Fredericksburg, Goldwaite, Johnson City, Llano, Marble Falls, New Braunfels, Round Mountain and Wimberley are all part of the Hill Country Regional Lighting Trail. Each of these towns offer visitors dazzling light displays among the rolling hills of Central Texas.
Santa's Ranch
New Braunfel’s Santa’s Ranch, which is a full drive-through Christmas Light Park, with over 1 million lights is a popular holiday season attraction in the Texas Hill Country.
Santa's Wonderland
College Station’s Santa’s Wonderland features 2.5 million lights spread across 40 acres and is one of the largest holiday theme parks in the nation.
Twice As Bright Festival
On Texas’ northern border, the Texarkana Twice as Bright Festival of Lights offers horse and carriage rides, as well as live reindeer to go with an impressive display of lights.
Zilker Tree Holiday Festival
A month-long holiday festival centered around the 155-foot Zilker Tree, the Zilker Tree Holiday Festival also features a mile-long walking holiday light trail in the week leading up to Christmas.
