Houston Airport Information

By Danno Wise, About.com

Houston is a large city that sees a lot of air travel traffic. Luckily, Houston has two major airports to serve both visitors traveling to and from Houston, as well as those just needing to connect flights on their way to another destination.

1. Bush Intercontinental Airport

Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is located about 20 miles north of downtown Houston. Travelers can use IH-45, Hwy 59 or the Sam Houston Toll Road to reach the airport exit. IAH is served by 17 passenger airlines, including American Airlines, British Airways, Continental, Delta, AirFrance and United Airlines.

2. Hobby Airport

William Hobby Airport is located southeast of downtown Houston on I45. Because of its location, Hobby is typically the airport of choice for visitors to Gulf Coast destinations like Galveston and Cleark Lake. Because it is served by Southwest Airlines, Hobby is also a popular airport for in-state travelers. In addition to Southwest, Hobby is served by AirTran, American Airlines, Delta, and JetBlue.
