Things to Do in Houston

As the nation's fourth largest city, Houston has plenty to see and do. Although it is not commonly thought of as a 'tourist destination,' Bayou City visitors can certainly stay busy and find plenty of fun things to do during their stay.

1. Go Rodeo

Houston Rodeo
The first three weeks of March in Houston mean the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. This one-of-a-kind event features the second largest fair in North America, daily professional rodeo competitions, and some of the biggest names in music performing daily during the three week stretch.

2. See Space

After playing an important role in the Space Race of the 1960s, Space Center Houston has become a popular tourist attraction. Even today, when it remains crucial to the NASA Space Program, Space Center Houston is better known as an entertaining and educational attraction that draws thousands of visitors annually.

3. Take in a Texans' Game

In football crazy Houston, the Texans are at the top of the heap. As one of the NFL's newer franchises, the Texans play in one of the most fan-friendly stadiums in the league, state-of-the-art Reliant Stadium.

4. Get in Touch With Your Wild Side

Located next to Hermann Park near Houston's famed Medical District, the Houston Zoo has been giving Houston area residents and visitors close-up views of exotic wildlife since 1922.

5. Run A Marathon

What started as a humble race with just over 100 runners has blossomed into the largest single sporting event in Houston. This year's Houston Marathon features nearly 18,000 participants, making it one of the largest running events in the country.

6. Night (or Day) at a Museum

Houston has a lot to offer. Among its many ammenities, Houston has some of the best museums in the United States.
