SunMart Texas Trails Endurance Run

By , About.com Guide

Held annually for nearly two decades, the SunMart Texas Trail Endurance Run has developed a reputation as one of the more challenging races in the Lone Star State. Actually, the even is two runs – a 50-mile run with a 12-hour maximum time limit and a 50k run with an 11 1/2-hour time limit. Together, these runs make the SunMart Texas Trail Endurance Run the largest ultra event in the United States.

Both runs take place in Huntsville State Park, just north of Houston. This year’s event is set for Dec. 6, 2008. A pre-race pasta party will be held Friday, Dec. 5 at the Sheraton North Houston (near Bush Intercontinental Airport). There will also be a post-race barbecue. All participants will receive a ‘premium’ goody bag which includes items such as a polo shirt, fanny pack, rain poncho, cap and more. All finishers will receive a medal and their choice of a Tyvek jacket or afghan blanket.
