Austin Marathon – Held in the capital city, the Livestrong Austin Marathon is one of the most scenic races in Texas, with nearly half the course being run along Town Lake and the Colorado River. The rolling hills of Austin also make this one of the more challenging races offered in the Lone Star State.
Beach to Bay Relay Marathon – Thousands flock to the “Sparkling City By The Sea” to take part in Corpus Christi’s Beach to Bay Relay Marathon. This event features six-person teams running a 26.2-mile marathon relay-style from, as the name suggests, the beach to the bay.
Houston Marathon – Deemed the largest athletic event in Houston, the HP Houston Marathon has been run for more than three decades. For those not quite ready for a marathon, the weekend also features a half-marathon, 5k and kids’ race.
Longest Causeway Run and Wellness Walk – A two-decade tradition, Port Isabel’s Longest Causeway Run and Wellness Walk gives participants a once-a-year opportunity to jog, walk or run across the longest bridge in Texas – the Queen Isabella Causeway. This event features a 5k walk and 10k run.
Mardi Gras Beach Run – Proving that not all Mardi Gras activities are unhealthy, Galveston’s Mardi Gras Beach Run features both a 5k and 10k, which are run along Stewart Beach and the Galveston Seawall.
White Rock Marathon – Dallas’ “Run the Rock” event combines music – over 30 bands perform along the race route – with running – it is, after all, a marathon. There is also a 5k walk/fun run, half-marathon, and relay marathon during the weekend.
