March and April weather in Texas is just right for outdoor activities. As a result, a number of running and walking events, as well as triathlons and adventures races, are scheduled for the fourth month. Here are some of the highlights of Texas' running event calendar during the spring season.
Billed as the largest 10k in Texas, the Capitol 10,000 is sponsored by the Austin American Statesman and covers the distance between downtown Austin and Auditorium Shores.
A team adventure race which includes trekking, mountain biking, paddling and swimming. The race is held each year in Fort Parker State Park.
Geared toward novice triathletes, Galveston's My First Triathlon includes a .25-mile swim, 12-mile bike route and 3-mile run. My Next Triathlon, an event for experienced triathletes, is held in conjunction with My First Triathlon.
This annual marathon starts and finishes at Dallas Fair Park - site of the Texas State Fair. The course winds through a variety of Dallas neighborhoods, as well as nearby White Rock Lake. A half-marathon and 5k are also held in conjunction with the Texas Marathon.
This annual Hill Country event is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and includes an all-night walk, live entertainment, food, music and more.
