Texas Art Museums

Those unfamiliar with Texas may not think of it as a cultural hub for art and artists. However, the Lone Star State is home to an impressive number of talented and creative artists, as well as an amazing number of art museums and galleries.

11. Tyler Museum of Art

Originally founded in 1952, the Tyler Museum of Art houses a collection of over 600 pieces of fine art, as well as a library, cafe and gift shop.

12. Lubbock Garden and Arts Center

A public cultural arts center, the Lubbock Garden and Arts Center offers a variety of arts programs for youths, adults, seniors, and families. Additionally, the center houses a fine art gallery, photo gallery and is available for weddings and other formal events.

13. Irving Arts Center

The Irving Arts Center has over 90,000 square feet of performing and visual arts space, a 707-seat concert hall, 253-seat theater, and four galleries with rotating displays. The center is host to a variety of concerts and performing arts productions and is also available for meetings, weddings and other important events.

14. Mexic-Arte Museum

Austin's Mexic-Arte Museum was founded in 1983 to preserve and promote traditional and contemporary Mexican and Latino art.
