Texas Music Museums

Texas and native Texans have had a far reaching influence on the American music industry. Visitors to Texas have an opportunity to see, hear and learn about the Texas music scene through a variety of museums commemorating the Lone Star State's place in musical history.

1. Texas Music Museum

The Texas Music Museum in Austin is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the musical history of Texas, as well as the contributions of Texas musicians to the national and world music scene.

2. Texas Country Music Hall of Fame

Located in Carthage, the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame is dedicated to preserving the country music heritage of the Lone Star State.

3. Buddy Holly Center

Named for Lubbock's favorite son, the Buddy Holly Center collects, preserves and displays artifacts from Buddy Holly and a variety of other Texas musicians and artists.

4. West Texas Music Hall of Fame & Museum

Located in Ft. Worth, the West Texas Music Hall of Fame preserves the history of Texas music and tells the story of Texas' influence on music.

5. Heart of Texas Country Music Museum

Located in Brady, in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, the Heart of Texas Country Music Museum is dedicated to preserving the history of Texas music as well as country music as seen on a national scale. Currently, the museum features a variety of memorabilia from over 100 country musicians.

6. Tejano R.O.O.T.S. Hall of Fame

Located in nearby Alice, the Tejano R.O.O.T.S. Hall of Fame is dedicated to preserving the rich history of Tejano music - a Texas original.
