Canyon Overview:
The "Gateway to the Grand Canyon of Texas," Canyon is located on the edge of the famous Palo Duro Canyon in the Texas Panhandle.
Canyon History:
Canyon was founded Christmas day 1887. From the beginning, Canyon has relied heavily on the cattle industry. In the late 1800s, the railroad came to town and made Canyon one of the busiest shipping outlets in the United States around the turn of the century.

Canyon Attractions:
Palo Duro Canyon is definitely the biggest attraction for Canyon. The Panhandle Historical Museum and nearly two dozen historical sites make Canyon a popular destination for history buffs.
