New Boston History:
In one of the quirkiest instances in Texas history, New Boston is one of three Bowie County townships with 'Boston' as part of its name. Originally, Boston was originally formed in the mid-1800s. Some time later, a depot was established a few miles north of town. This area was named New Boston and the original Boston became known as Old Boston. After the county seat was moved from (Old) Boston to Texarkana, an election successfully moved it back to the center of Bowie County. This centerpoint was named Boston. Today New Boston is the county seat.

New Boston Attractions:
New Boston's biggest attractions are actually events. Each Fourth of July, New Boston holds a Freedom Festival. New Boston's Pioneer Days are held each August and during December it's Christmas Tree Wonderland showcases more than 100 decorated trees among walking trails. Additionally, New Boston Trade Days are held the second weekend of each month in downtown New Boston.
