Palestine CVB
Palestine Overview:
Known primarily for housing the Texas State Railroad and hosting the Dogwood Trails Festival, Palestine is a charming Southern town tucked deep in the Texas Piney Woods.
Palestine History:
When Anderson County was established in 1846, no town existed at the center of the county. Palestine was established and named the county seat to fill that need. In 1847, a post office was granted. Oil was discovered east of Palestine in 1928. Today Palestine relies heavily on tourism, with history and nature being the biggest draws.
