Small Towns in the Texas Prairies and Lakes Region

The name says it all. This region offers many beautiful lakes with unique towns lining their shores. However, the Prairies and Lakes Region of Texas is also famous for Trade Days in Canton, the Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham, wineries in Grapevine and much more.

Touring Texas' Prairies and Lakes Region

The Texas Prairies and Lakes Region stretches from Brenham to just north of the sprawling Dallas/Ft Worth Metroplex. Within this region are a number of unique towns as well as numerous lakes and other natural attractions.

The Texas Prairies and Lakes Region is a vast stretch of land running from College Station to Dallas. Within this area visitors will find a number of both natural and man-made attractions.

The Texas Prairies and Lakes Region is one of the largest regions in the Lone Star State and is home to numerous attractions and landmarks.

Bastrop

Located a short drive from Austin, Bastrop is a quaint central Texas town situated right on the Colorado River. Bastrop is also home to great golfing, shopping, as well as an abundance of outdoor activities at Lake Bastrop and Bastrop State Park.

Bonham

Located just an hour from Dallas, Bonham offers visitors great access to a variety of lakes, camping locations, golf, shopping, and museums.

Bowie

Bowie is famous for cowboys, but the Bowie Championship Pro Rodeo is but one of the activities offered by this "western town." Bowie is also home to the Chisholm Trail Memorial Park, monthly antique fairs, Lake Amon G. Carter, Bowie Reservoir and more.

Brenham

Home to the Blue Bell Creamery, Brenham is also a haven for historic home tours as well as wildflower trails.

Canton

The first Monday of each month's, Canton hosts "Trade Day" and becomes the "World's Largest Flea Market."

Cleburne

The small Texas town of Cleburne plays host to rodeos, antique shops, restaurants, musuems, Lake Pat Cleburne, and its signature event - Whistle Stop Christmas.

College Station

College Station is famous as the home of the Texas A&M Aggies. However, this Central Texas town also is home to a number of impressive libraries, golf courses, nightclubs, and more.

Located right outside of Dallas, Farmer's Branch offers visitors a quiet respite, yet quick access to everything the Big D has to offer.

Ft Worth, Texas

Grand Prairie
