3M Half Marathon and Relay
Austin's Annual Half Marathon One of Nation's Best

By , About.com Guide

Austin is known as one of Texas’ fittest cities. Part of that reputation is based on the number of high-quality running and walking events held each year in the Capitol City. One such event is the 3M Half Marathon and Relay, which is held annually at the end of January.

The half marathon is 13.1 miles of downhill running and is geared to intermediate runners. Individuals who are fairly new to endurance running may prefer the half marathon relay, which is the same distance split between two runners. Additionally, the 3M Half Marathon and Relay features a Kids Fun Run, which is a 50-yard non-competitive run for children ages 10 and under.

2009 marks the 15th year for the 3M Half Marathon, which has been named as one of the Top 25 Half Marathons in America by Runner’s World magazine. It is also a USA Track and Field certified event.

This year’s race is set for Jan. 25.
