Texas Fried Chicken

A traditional southern favorite, fried chicken is regularly served at dinners across Texas. It is particularly popular during summer.
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
  • 3 pounds chicken
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 eggs
  • vegetable oil
Preparation:
Beat eggs in bowl. Mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper and salt in large bowl. Fill frying pan with 1/2 inch vegetable oil, heat over medium-high heat. Dip chicken in egg, then dredge through seasoned flour mixture. Place in heated oil and fry until brown - approximately 10 to 12 minutes per side.
