Texas Fried Shrimp Recipe

With hundreds of miles of coastline facing the Gulf of Mexico, Texas has plenty of fresh seafood options. However, the Lone Star State's signature seafood dish is, without a doubt, fried shrimp. From popcorn shrimp to jumbo Gulf shrimp, Texans love these crustaceans battered and fried golden brown.
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 3 minutes
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds shrimp
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • Vegetable oil
Preparation:
Peel and devein shrimp. Beat eggs in one bowl. Mix lemon juice with eggs. Combine other ingredients in seperate bowl. Dip peeled shrimp in egg mixture, then dredge through flour mixture. Fry in 375 degree oil until brown.
