Mother's Day In Texas

Lone Star State Offers Plenty of Options For Treating Mom to Memorable Weekend

By Danno Wise, About.com

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, plenty of Texas residents and visitors are looking for somewhere to take mom for a quick weekend getaway. Luckily, Texas has a wide variety of unique, quality hotels, spas and resorts, any number of which will ensure mom has a weekend she’ll remember forever.

Austin’s renown Barton Creek Resort & Spa is just one of several Hill Country getaways that will put a smile on mom’s face. Horseshoe Bay Resort and Lake Austin Spa & Resort are other good options located within easy driving distance of the Capitol City.

The famous Hotel Adolphus is a great Mother’s Day option for those who find themselves in the Dallas area. The Mansion on Turtle Creek is another option for couples looking for a romantic setting over Mother’s Day weekend.

San Antonio, of course, offers a multitude of enchanting options. The La Mansion del Rio offers a wonderful experience on the famed Riverwalk, as does the Riverwalk Inn. Just outside of town, the La Cantera Resort offers everything that is needed for a memorable weekend.

Those looking for an “island getaway” also have their choice of romantic getaways as well. Galveston’s unique inn and garden, the Mermaid and Dolphin is a one-of-a-kind hide-a-way, while the historic Hotel Galvez and the distinguished San Luis Resort offer accommodations and dining in a more traditional setting. Down on South Padre Island, visitors can enjoy the island ambiance while staying at a number of first class hotels, such as the Radisson, Sheraton or Bahia Mar. And, though it is actually on the mainland, Corpus Christi’s bayfront Omni Hotel is located right in the marina district and is surrounded by first class restaurants and attractions.
