Guide Review - Schlitterbahn Waterpark - New Braunfels
New Braunfels' Schlitterbahn Park is Texas' oldest and most unique waterpark. It is also roundly recognized as one of the best and most innovative waterparks in the country. In fact, for nine straight years, Schlitterbahn New Braunfels has been named the 'World's Best Waterpark' by Amusement Today magazine. With over 3 miles of tubing, 3 watercoasters, the world's first artificial wave machine, 7 children play areas, and 17 waterslides, Schlitterbahn New Braunfels offers something for everyone.
But, despite offering a wide array of water recreation options, it is the tubing that gives Schlitterbahn New Braunfels its unique flair. And,there are tubing options for everyone. From the lazily flowing Kristal River to the wild rapids of the Whitewater Tube Chute, there is a tubing activity to fit every age, experience and adventure level.
Of course, playing in the water all day tends to make one hungry. However, food is never a problem at Schlitterbahn. Park guests are allowed to bring their own picnic baskets (so long as no glass containers or alcoholic beverages are brought in). And, there are plenty of onsite dining options, ranging from Pollywogs Pizza to the Gator Grill to the BBQ Pit. Additionally, there are plenty of 'cooling' stations that serve ice cream and cold drinks.
Although Schlitterbahn New Braunfels is only open for a few short months, it is definitely worth a visit. Anyone traveling through the Texas Hill Country from late May through August should detour through New Braunfels and spend a day at Schlitterbahn.
